Debbie Shaffer

Debbie Shaffer is the Senior Specialist for Export and International Affairs at Southwest Research Institute® (SwRI®). Over the past 14 years, she has played a key role in international activities at SwRI ranging from administration of its Exchange Visitor Program, and responsibility for the Foreign Visitor Control program to all export control transactions for hardware and technical data, and associated regulatory compliance issues. Debbie serves as SwRI’s liaison member with the San Antonio International Alliance, a group that focuses on the social and cultural development of foreign persons employed at local educational and corporate institutions. She is a member of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio and an associate member of the Society for International Affairs (SIA), in Washington D.C. SIA is an all-volunteer, non-profit, educational organization, that was jointly formed in 1967 by the U.S. Government and Industry to provide a forum for the exchange of information related to export and import licensing. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word
with a degree in Psychology of Organizations, Debbie also teaches
two modules in SwRI’s internal Supervisory Management Training series. |
